I’ve decided to sell some merchandise online with Redbubble.com! Hopefully this will make the transition to full time illustrator a bit easier for me.
I do not believe in over consumption, so I will keep the products that I offer to a minimum. No rubbish. No junk.
The world just does not need any more crap ending up the ocean.
So at this stage, the shop will feature a selection of prints, greeting cards, t-shirts, spiral notebooks, ceramic mugs, travel mugs, draw-string bags and the odd wall clock.
In other words, I am only selling most of the paper-based stuff. I have very few plastic iphone cases and things like that. That way, at least I know it is biodegradeable and compostable.
So I decided to re-upload my illustration portfolio, this time to Vimeo. I find that Vimeo has better overall quality and presentation that Youtube, has much less intrusive ads and also allows me to replace videos. Also, most of Vimeo’s actual content is generally of a higher standard than Youtube’s.
So I have the redone the first two videos in 1920 x 1080 pixels, with 60 frames per second and 24 bit colour. This makes the presentation look better + smoother.
All my newer portfolio videos will be done in 3840 x 2160 (4k) resolution. I’d like to do them in 60fps too, but I’m currently having trouble encoding the MP4 files. One other 4k 60fps video that I produced earlier this week was only 42 seconds long and yielded a 61 gigabyte AVI file! That is just over half as much space as everything else on my whole laptop.
That’s it from me today!

I hope you like this video presentation of some of my best work. I edited this today with Adobe After Effects. I have never used that program before, so even though I bought a template, it still took literally hours to do.
This is not an officially endorsed poster. But somehow I don’t think Planet Ark and the other sponsors will mind. You know what they say in India? Fake it fake it fake until you make it!
In the absence of real, paying commissions, I have decided to just… draw whatever the hell I want. One of the most moving articles I have ever written can be read here. It’s about addiction. So I’ve decided to draw it.
I love poppyseeds, especially on cheese on toast. Judging by that young man’s exceptional writing ability, I found this story to be a great tradegy for those parents. Their whole website is about informing other parents of the dangers of poppyseed tea. Poppyseed tea can kill!
Their website is almost completely text-based. I tend to notice this because I am a visual person. So I wanted to draw an illustration for them that was so cool that people would be a little bit more pursuaded by what the website has to say. I also want to send a message to a generation of youngsters — that you don’t need to take drugs to be creative.
If you found my review helpful and would like to purchase this book, please cLick the link below. It ends up being exactly the same price for you, but purchasing the same item through the link below enables me to earn a few cents in commission from Amazon. That way I can continue to make many other book & product reviews! Thanks! Les
I thought I’d share this video I put together duing the middle part of the course in 2015 – I made this video for the subject called “Art Direction”, one of the harder ones. Basically, as part of a rebranding project, I had to design a new logo for Aeroflot. There were a whole bunch of other documents I had to produce along with the logo: Client contract, production schedule, budget estimate, branding guideline manual, advertising campaign, storyboard advert and finally a presentation.
The week before I started this subject, I was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder (GAD).Read more →
